DIY Dr. Seuss Temporary Tattoos

My kids are still in elementary school so Dr. Seuss’s birthday is a big event at school. I created these Dr. Seuss temporary tattoos of the Cat in the Hat’s hat, the Lorax’s mustache and green eggs and ham to bring to the class parties! They are super easy to make and can be done in under 15 minutes with my printable file.

Supplies:

Instructions:

1. Download the printable PDF here or Silhouette Studio cut file here. These files are only for your PERSONAL USE.

The two files look different because of the required registration marks for the Silhouette Studio file. The designs in the Silhouette file are also closer together because I didn’t need to leave room for scissor cutting. I printed out and used the Silhouette Studio file in the tutorial photos below.

2. The Silhouette Printable Temporary Tattoo Paper consists of a printable sheet and an adhesive sheet. Use an inkjet printer to print the file out onto the glossy side of the printable paper. Let the ink dry for a minute or two. The printed designs will be the mirror image of how they will look when applied. This was a little confusing to me at first but I understood it after I applied the tattoo.

3. The adhesive sheet has two sections of backing. Remove the small green strip of backing. Line up the exposed adhesive with the corner of the printed temporary tattoo paper and smooth it down.

4. Carefully pull back the large piece of green backing a little bit at a time and smooth the adhesive sheet as you go. Make sure there are no air bubbles.

5. Use scissors to cut out each individual tattoo. The closer you cut to the border of the tattoo, the better the tattoo will look when applied. These are the temporary tattoos that I cut out with my Silhouette Portrait.

6. Apply the tattoos. Peel the clear adhesive off the tattoo and place the tattoo with the image face down on the skin. Place a damp washcloth or paper towel on the tattoo for 20 seconds. Remove the washcloth and white paper backing to reveal the temporary tattoo!
